I've started a little relaxation project at home. We have many empty walls and I wanted to fill one of them with something so I decided on portraits of famous singers, actors or characters.. that somehow made a mark on either history or on me and my husband. So, relaxation and practice combined. Also, more people have started to ask for portraits to buy from me so this will also be a part of a kind of traditional portfolio.
Wall of Fame No1!
First up was Lady Gaga. The reason I wanted to have her on the wall was since she has.. style. Her own style indeed but she's a special singer and I appreciate much of her work.
Any suggestion of other singers, actors or characters that should be on the wall? I think the next one will be Daft Punk...
A3 paper with Staedtler softlead pencils. Also used a black marker for the dark parts. Reference image found on google, [link]
Lots of imperfections but still.
Drawn while watching several movies: * In her shoes * The devil wears Prada * The informant * Asterix and Cleopatra * Asterix in Britain * and another Asterix movie I can't remember the name of...
Also, go check out my wall of fame No 2, Daft Punk [link]
Great stuff, though one thing that gets my attention is the nose. Lookin at the ref it's slightly more angeled to the right. Now it looks more like the noses you tend to render if I'm not mistaken.
Excellent rendition of a... erm... not so excellent subject?
The lightning bolt by her eye reminds me of Ziggy Stardust... and someone else... *thinks* ...Oh, yes, and General Silver!
Two suggestions for history-making singers, both as reactions to this picture:
1. David Bowie, since she reminded me of Bowie's character Ziggy Stardust (or was that Aladdin Sane that had the lightning bolt? *Google Image Search!*) Nope, it's Aladdin Sane!
2. Bing Crosby, who I thought of first, as he is the exact opposite of Lady Gaga: male, old, smooth, uncontroversial, dead, and someone whose singing I actually like to hear.
Interestingly enough, one of Bing Crosby's last televised performances was with David Bowie... [link]
